- Are you passionate about working towards futures of resilience, transition and renewal?
If you are, Welcome to PatternDynamics™, an innovative and exciting new tool for sustainability advocates and professionals.
Sustainability is a complex global challenge. It requires collaboration at all levels of organization- from ecologies and economies to communities and corporations. This can only happen where there are strong cultures of sustainability. Developing culture requires high levels of mutual understanding. Mutual understanding requires effective communication. And, effective communication requires the right language... PatternDynamics™ is just such a language—"a sustainability pattern language".
PatternDynamics™ → Communication → Understanding → Culture → Collaboration
PatternDynamics™ uses the design patterns of sustainable natural systems to create a set of "pattern" diagrams- the PatternDynamics™ Chart. Each pattern in the chart represents a principle of sustainability. Transforming natural patterns into cultural principles- the principles of sustainability—is the core of the PatternDynamics™ method.
PatternDynamics™ is simple for beginners, scaleable for any size organization, and it's multiple levels of meaning give it depth to satisfy the most advanced sustainability practitioners and leaders. Join the PatternDynamics™ community today to start creating cultures of sustainability in your world!
We like to think of PatternDynamics™ as an Integral Sustainability Pattern Language. It helps natural "systems thinkers" to communicate, design and collaborate for sustainable futures, and it serves as a way for leaders to help others learn the principles of sustainability. Learning and sharing the principles of sustainability helps integrate diverse perspectives and contributions, ensuring we coordinate global levels of intelligence in enacting a sustainable world.
Approach
PatternDynamics™ is based on an Integral approach to sustainability. We use the terms Integral to signify a comprehensive, inclusive and non marginalizing approach that simultaneously seeks to provide a framework to "integrate" diverse perspectives. Applying an Integral approach to a large and complex world challenge like sustainability allows for sophisticated responses that acknowledge and utilise all of the worlds knowledge and wisdom traditions.
